Clear terms for every science experience
These terms explain how bookings, purchases and services provided by Fun Science Studios work.
They apply to workshops, birthday parties, schools, events, vouchers, physical products and any other service booked or purchased directly from us.
Before booking
The person making the booking must be at least 18.
A £50 deposit secures an agreed birthday-party date.
At least 48 hours’ notice is required to request a transfer or refund.
Adults remain responsible for suitable supervision and behaviour.
Part of your agreement
These terms should be read alongside the following customer policies.

These terms apply when a customer books or purchases directly from Fun Science Studios through our website, booking platform, email, telephone, social media, invoice or in person.
The person booking must be at least 18 and legally able to enter into a contract. A person booking for an organisation confirms that they have authority to act on its behalf.
An enquiry does not reserve a date. A contract is formed when we accept the booking or order in writing and receive any required payment or deposit.
Customers must check confirmations carefully and tell us promptly about errors.
An accepted quote, invoice or written booking confirmation may contain additional terms. Where they differ from these general terms, the booking-specific terms apply to that booking.
Prices are stated in pounds sterling. Fun Science Studios is not currently VAT registered, so VAT is not charged separately.
Prices and agreed extras are confirmed before the booking becomes binding.
A date is not secured until the required deposit has been received and the booking has been confirmed.
Birthday parties require a £50 deposit. Where a customer cancels, the deposit is normally retained to reflect the reserved date and initial work.
Any amount retained will not exceed our reasonable direct losses and does not affect statutory rights.
Birthday-party balances are due 72 hours before the agreed party time.
Other payment deadlines appear in the quote or confirmation. Instalments may be agreed, but they do not change the final deadline unless confirmed in writing.
If payment is overdue, we may suspend or cancel the booking after contacting the customer and allowing a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue.
A standard family workshop normally lasts one hour and includes four hands-on experiments.
General workshops are designed for children aged 3–12 unless an individual listing states otherwise.
Every participating child requires a booked place unless the event information clearly says otherwise.
A responsible adult must remain throughout. Adults may help without an additional workshop charge.
Children under six may need close one-to-one support.
Late arrival does not extend the session.
We may adapt or replace an experiment where reasonably necessary for safety, age suitability, participant needs, venue conditions or material availability.
At least 48 hours’ notice is required to request a workshop transfer or refund.
Full details are in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
A standard party normally includes four hands-on experiments and one larger show-stopper finale involving the birthday child.
It is designed primarily for children aged 4–12.
Standard packages include up to 15 participating children. Additional children are £10 each unless another price is confirmed.
There is no fixed maximum where the venue can safely accommodate the group, but final numbers must be agreed in advance.
An additional birthday child is £45 and includes additional personalised materials and another special show-stopper moment.
One show-stopper is included. Additional standard show-stoppers are £20 each.
Specialist options, party bags, decorations and other extras are subject to availability and the price confirmed for the booking.
Some extras require at least two weeks’ notice.
Final numbers, ages, experiments, venue details and extras must be supplied when requested.
Changes are subject to availability and may alter the price, preparation requirements or duration.
The customer must ensure that enough responsible adults are present, particularly for younger children.
Fun Science Studios leads the science activities but does not replace general party supervision.
The customer must ensure the venue is available, accessible, clean, safe and suitable for the agreed activities and group size.
Required permission must be obtained from the venue owner or operator.
Suitable tables, chairs, lighting, ventilation and safe access must be available, together with water and electricity where required.
Science activities can be messy, so floors and surfaces must be appropriate.
We normally require access 60 minutes before a birthday party and approximately 30 minutes afterwards.
Decoration setup may require a further 30 minutes.
Travel is included within 10 miles of Portsmouth.
Beyond this distance, travel is charged at 50p per additional mile for the return journey.
A further £20 charge applies where travel takes 40 minutes or more, unless a different written quote is agreed.
A home-venue fee of £40 applies because additional planning is required for access, layout and experiment transitions.
The customer must disclose parking charges, stairs, loading restrictions or unusually long carrying distances before confirmation.
Additional unavoidable costs will only be added after they are explained and agreed.
Organisational bookings are normally governed by an accepted quote, invoice or booking confirmation setting out the service, price, travel, payment and cancellation terms.
The organiser remains responsible for suitable adult supervision, staff-to-child ratios and its own safeguarding duties.
Fun Science Studios staff lead the activities but do not replace the organisation’s supervising staff.
The organiser must provide accurate participant numbers, ages, access information, allergies, relevant medical needs and reasonable-adjustment requirements in sufficient time.
Changes to the date, time, venue, numbers or format are subject to availability and may require a revised quote.
Participants and supervising adults must follow safety instructions and use lab coats, goggles, gloves or other protective equipment when directed.
Relevant allergies, medical conditions, sensory needs, accessibility requirements and support needs must be disclosed in advance.
We will make reasonable adjustments where possible, but an activity may need to be adapted or replaced.
Activities may use common household, cosmetic, craft or food ingredients.
We cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free environment.
We may pause or stop an activity where behaviour creates a safety risk, causes serious disruption or threatens damage to people, equipment or property.
Participants should not attend when significantly unwell or contagious.
Suitable clothing should be worn because experiments may involve water, colour, foam, slime and other messy materials.
We take reasonable care to describe products accurately. Colours may vary slightly because of screen settings and normal production differences.
All products remain subject to availability.
Customers must enter names and other details accurately.
Once production begins, changes may not be possible.
Correctly personalised products cannot normally be returned for a change of mind, but rights relating to faulty, damaged or incorrect goods remain unaffected.
Available methods and expected times are explained on our Delivery Options page.
Collection is from an agreed science workshop in Baffins by prior arrangement.
Vouchers are normally sent by email as a PDF.
A voucher does not guarantee a particular workshop until that booking is separately confirmed.
It must be used by any expiry date shown and cannot normally be exchanged for cash.
Notice periods, transfers, deposits and refunds are explained in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Any amount retained following cancellation will reflect reasonable direct loss, taking account of costs saved or recovered.
Workshops, birthday parties and events booked for a specific date are dated leisure services.
The standard 14-day cancellation right that applies to many distance contracts does not normally apply to these dated bookings.
Eligible physical goods purchased online normally carry a 14-day cancellation right, subject to legal exceptions such as correctly personalised products.
Where we cancel, we will normally offer a suitable alternative or refund payments for the cancelled service.
Customers are not required to accept an alternative date.
Severe weather, serious illness, venue closure, transport disruption, utility failure, public emergency or similar circumstances may require us to adapt, postpone or cancel.
We will contact customers promptly and provide an appropriate option.
These terms do not by themselves give consent for us to publish an identifiable image of a child.
Separate consent or clear event photography information will be used where photography is planned.
Customers must respect the privacy of other families when taking or sharing images.
We use personal information to administer bookings, provide services, fulfil orders and meet legal obligations.
Further information appears in our Privacy Policy.
Our name, logo, branding, workshop plans, written resources, experiment descriptions, graphics, photographs, videos and Lab Card designs remain our intellectual property or are used under licence.
They may not be copied, resold or used to provide competing commercial activities without written permission.
We provide services with reasonable care and skill and supply goods in accordance with applicable legal requirements.
We are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach of contract or failure to use reasonable care and skill.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, statutory consumer rights or any liability that cannot legally be excluded.
A separate venue, entertainer, caterer or supplier is responsible for services contracted directly with the customer.
We are not responsible for problems caused by inaccurate or late information where we could not reasonably prevent the resulting issue.
Please email funsciencestudios@gmail.com promptly with the booking or order details and supporting information.
We will investigate and respond as soon as reasonably possible.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
Consumers retain any mandatory right to bring proceedings in the part of the United Kingdom where they live.
Nothing in these terms removes rights that cannot legally be limited, including rights relating to faulty goods or services not supplied with reasonable care and skill.
